The Wayne County Community College District Police Authority District Communication Control Center operates as the primary campus safety answering and central dispatch center. The WCCCD Police Authority Dispatchers performs initial call reception to determine the appropriate level of service needed in emergency situations and allocates appropriate personnel and resources to incidents. Fire and emergency medical response are also initiated by the WCCCD Police Authority Dispatchers. They operate with a variety of communications equipment, including telephone, two-way radio and Computer Aided Dispatch system. They also monitor CCTV throughout the district. The WCCCD Police Authority Dispatchers are required to make quick decisions; coordinate multiple tasks at one time; having reasoning skills and ability to maintain control of a situation. It is the nature of the job that, at any time, an emergency will require a dispatcher’s full and immediate attention and response.
