Faculty Resources

Faculty Lounge

The Distance Faculty Lounge site is a virtual community where instructors are able to get the latest Distance Learning updates, tips for improving their online courses, stay abreast of professional development opportunities, engage in live chats, and access other faculty resources.  The lounge also provides a mechanism for resource sharing, best practice collaboration, and instructor feedback for continuous process improvement of our Distance Learning Division. The goal is to provide a comprehensive resource site for faculty using Blackboard. If you are a current Distance Learning faculty, we invite you to login and participate. Faculty Lounge.

Blackboard Basics for Face-to-Face Teaching

This training is designed to introduce faculty to effective uses of Blackboard in a face-to-face class. The training offers participants practical ways to use Blackboard features to enhance their course, and to motivate their students to learn. If you are interested in this training, see WCCCD Organizational Development Institute (ODI) publication for training dates, times, and location.

Are You Ready to Teach Online?

Successful online learning requires the participation of an excellent instructor in developing and maintaining an effective online learning environment. The instructor must be suited to teaching online, and possess critical set of skills and tools unique to the environment. Some instructors will find the online teaching environment very challenging, thus we recommend that click on the link for self assessment and determine if you are ready to teach online.  Online Teaching.
