Tech Prep Program

Wayne County Community College District’s Tech Prep Program is a vital component for a seamless transition from high school to college for students in career and technical programs.

Wayne County Community College District is unique in that it serves two regions, Region 24—a partnership with Detroit Public Schools and Region 25—a partnership with the Monroe Consortium.

With over 60 high schools that participate in this program consisting of over 135 articulation agreements, students are given a competitive edge towards completing their certificate or degree program.  In addition, Tech Prep has many 2 + 2 agreements with four-year institutions to provide a pathway to specific occupational education.

What is Tech Prep?

Tech Prep is an alliance between secondary and post-secondary schools to provide college credit for high school courses in career training programs. These credits will be applied once a student successfully completes 12 college credits.  There is no cost to the students and they have gained valuable credit that rapidly advances them in achieving their goal of graduating with a degree or certificate.

For more information about Tech Prep, contact your high school teachers or counselors or the Wayne County Community College District’s Tech Prep office at (313) 496-2575.
