SELECTION TO THE PROGRAM
Since the program can only serve 350 participants each semester, admission into the program is dependent on the number of openings created each semester as students graduate, transfer, or drop out of school .
Selection is a three-phase process whereby project staff interview, rank and orient potential participants.
Applicants who've submitted applications before the semester deadline will be invited in for an initial interview. During this meeting, the applicant's eligibility will be verified. Their career goals, personal concerns and specific academic needs will also be discussed.
During the ranking process, each applicant will be given points based on information recorded and gathered during the pre-selection assessment and initial interview.
At least one and up to two Letters of Reference from a WCCCD employee verifying the applicant's active participation in any college-sponsored organization. References also will be accepted from office-holding members of other reasonable professional, social or educational institutions.
200 – 300 word essay stating the reason for your interest in the program as well as your educational and career goals.
Verified attendance at a study skills workshop conducted by the academic support department.
Students who've excelled academically and/or persisted for consecutive semesters without dropping out will be given additional points toward their application during the selection process.
