SURGICAL TECHNOLOGY MISSION STATEMENT
"The mission of the Surgical Technology Program is to offer an accredited health-care career program for students interested in a career as a central service technologist, a surgical technologist, or a surgical first assistant. By using the classroom and distance learning modes of instruction and establishing partnerships with the local, health care community for practical clinical experiences, students have access to the educational means and health-care venues, to demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and ethic behavior expected of a qualified surgical technology professional. "
Link between District and Program Mission Statements
"WCCCD’s mission is to empower individuals, businesses and communities to achieve their goals through excellent accessible services, culturally diverse experiences and globally competitive higher education and career advancement programs. The Surgical Technology Program’s mission statement fulfills the District’s mission, because the Program prepares a student with the knowledge and clinical experience needed to work in a surgical technology environment. With this education, a student can sit for the national certification exam; and then, once certified, the individual can enter the health care field fully qualified to work as either a central service technologist, a surgical technologist (scrub), or a surgical first assistant. A successful student also has the opportunity to transfer to a senior-level institution. " |
