WCCCD Pursuit of Higher Learning Commission Reaffirmation 2020

Wayne County Community College District has been accredited since 1976 by the Higher Learning Commission (HLC), and has continued to maintain its institutional accreditation, receiving the highest commendation of reaffirmation with no findings in 2010 for a 10-year period. This historical accomplishment by the District demonstrates the invaluable commitment and focus of WCCCD’s faculty and staff to meet the dynamic needs of our students and community by promoting continuous quality improvement and excellence.

The District understands the importance of maintaining its institutional accreditation, demonstrating its ability to meet required standards of academic quality that enables its students to receive federal financial aid and transfer to other accredited colleges and universities. As the District prepares for the 2020 HLC reaffirmation process, it is our intention to integrate the HLC evaluative process into ongoing assessment and planning processes to provide evidence-based improvements and findings for the assurance argument (self-study) development.

The District looks forward to input by all faculty, staff, students, business, and community partners as part of this comprehensive review process to identify strengths, areas of opportunities and growth, as well as suggest improvements to promote continued excellence.

Thank you for your commitment in this process.
