Getting Started
  1. Once you log on, there may be a grayed out screen that pops up if you are a first time user of Blackboard.  This screen allows you to personalize your Blackboard account, much like other social media tools but you are not required.  You can add a profile picture, which should be professional since this is an image that is seen by your peers and instructors.  Personalization of your account is up to you.  You do not have to make any changes at all if you prefer, or you can choose to personalize at a later date.

  2. There is also a white message box that pops up that says “Please Read this Message”.  It asks to use cookies on your device, which you have to either Decline or Agree and Continue.  You must click “Agree & Continue” in order to access Blackboard.

  3. The homepage is the first thing you will see after you successfully sign into Blackboard.  Two key items you will want to pay attention to:
My Announcements and My Courses.  You can access your courses on the right hand side or along the top menu.

*My Announcements: links the announcements posted in your classes.
*My Courses: list your online courses you are enrolled in for the semester.

Note: If you do not see all of your courses listed that you registered for, you should check start dates in Web gate.

  4. Click on the course name to access that course in Blackboard.
