Welcome to the Downriver Campus

Located on approximately 100 acres of farmland and woods at 21000 Northline Road in Taylor, Michigan, the Downriver Campus was built in 1978, and includes a 7-acre woodland preserve with a winding path used for nature walks by students, faculty, staff and residents of the surrounding community. The Downriver Campus is conveniently located near Interstate 94 and Interstate 75, as well as several secondary connecting roads.

WCCCD’s Downriver Campus is home to the Michigan Institute for Public Safety Education (MIPSE) and the Heinz C. Prechter Educational and Performing Arts Center (EPAC). MIPSE, a state-of-the-art, 10-acre. $6 million facility - which houses a 5-story fire tower, a 12,000 square-foot training center, a 50,000 square-foot driver training area, and a man-made lake for water rescue simulations. The MIPSE facility also includes simulators for aircraft, vehicle, and ship rescue missions.

EPAC, which offers a vibrant and diverse performance program to the college community every season, as well as serving as the intellectual and cultural heart of the Downriver community.  It features a range of programs and facilities that support the work of the Wayne County Community College District’s (WCCCD) faculty, students, visiting artists, scholars, arts organizations and community partners. The 78,000 square-foot Heinz C. Prechter Educational and Performing Arts Center features an 812 seat theatre, state of the art technical amenities, studio/rehearsal space, a gallery for the visual arts, and up to 14 classroom/seminar rooms.
