Michigan-Based Photographer and Artist Lonnell Hurst Featured at WCCCD’s Brown and Juanita C. Ford Art Gallery
DETROIT, Mich. – Sept. 2, 2024 – The Brown and Juanita C. Ford Art Gallery at Wayne County Community College District’s (WCCCD) Northwest Campus will host Lonnell Hurst’s exhibit, “I Got This: Drawings and Photography Exhibition”, from August 28 through October 31, 2024.
The WCCCD Northwest Campus is located at 8200 West Outer Drive in Detroit. The gallery is open Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Born and raised in Inkster, Michigan, Hurst’s imaginative and ethereal drawings contain autobiographical and spiritual themes, reflecting his love for family, faith, and history. His work uses shapes, textures, and light to tell compelling visual stories.

Nationally, his work has been displayed at:
- 30th Annual CPSA International Exhibition (Dunedin Fine Art Center, Florida)
- Rosenthal Gallery, Fayetteville State University, North Carolina
“With a handful of pencils or through a camera lens, I make art that defines my life,” Hurst said. “These vehicles serve as the impetus of my visual voice.”
This exhibition is presented in partnership with WCCCD’s School of Continuing Education.
