WCCCD Ranked Among Top 25 Nationally for Associate Degrees Awarded to African Americans
WCCCD Only Michigan College Named to EDU Ledger’s Top 100 Associate Degree Producers
DETROIT, Mich. – Jan. 13, 2026 – Wayne County Community College District (WCCCD) has been ranked among the Top 25 associate degree–producing colleges in the nation, according to a December 2025 report by The EDU Ledger, a leading higher education sector publication that annually ranks the nation’s top institutions awarding degrees to African American students across all disciplines.
WCCCD ranked No. 24 nationally and was the only college in Michigan to appear on The EDU Ledger’s Top 100 list for associate degrees awarded to African Americans.
WCCCD has maintained a position in the Top 25 nationally for nearly 15 consecutive years, underscoring the District’s longstanding commitment to higher education access, equity, and student success. The EDU Ledger—formerly known as Diverse: Issues in Higher Education—also recognized WCCCD Chancellor Dr. Curtis L. Ivery with its Diverse Champions Award in 2020.
